Embracing the Whole Homebuyer

M/I Homes is one of the largest home builders in the United States. Based in Columbus, Ohio, M/I has a rich history of homebuilding spanning 40 years and nearly 100,000 new home builds. How has M/I built this reputation? By building a better home, a higher quality home, and most of all by caring for their customers.

Anyone who has purchased a home knows that it is both an emotional and a practical decision. M/I sought to embrace both halves of this dichotomy – embracing the whole home buyer. We worked together to to create a site is that easy to use, inspiring, and informative.

Based on our findings in an in-depth user research and strategy process, we worked together to build a site with a UX that reflects today’s best practices, and equally enables the site to evolve as M/I’s marketing practice evolves. We simplified the site’s user experience, rethought the information architecture, created new tools to make finding a home easier, and introduced new content that tells the story of M/I and each unique M/I Homes community.

Everything in this site, from the iconography to mortgage calculators to brand new community pages with rich information, is designed with the user in mind. We worked closely with the M/I development team, to build the new site on Sitecore, giving M/I the flexibility and reliability demanded by its business.
